Join us on March 11, 2023 for the inaugural Akron Book Fest!

Meet over 50 writers from our community. Learn how to get your creative work into the world. Mingle with fellow readers, and shop for books!

Akron Book Fest is free and open to the public.

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS:

11 AM - 3 PM

Over 50 area authors sharing, selling, and signing their work.

Information about how to have your book printed with available self-publishing tools.

Book giveaways.

An interactive story trail activity for the youngest book lovers.

Noon

Mindy McGinnis will discuss the inspiration for her newest release, The Initial Insult, which draws heavily on the short stories of Edgar Allan Poe, while covering modern themes of class, bullying, and small town politics.

1 PM

Writers on Writing Roundtable - Looking to start your novel, or develop your craft? Join a roundtable with up-and-coming writers to discuss the ups and downs of the writing process.

Wick Poetry Workshop - Wick Poetry Center staff will be leading a workshop gathering poetry as part of their Mapping Akron initiative. Contribute to the project, and share your work via an interactive poetry map of Akron that will be displayed in pop-up kiosks throughout the city.

2 PM

The Next Steps After Writing Your Book Roundtable - You’ve finished writing… what now? Engage with experts in a roundtable discussion, where you’ll learn how to protect and publish your work, and find your audience.

Teen Writing Circle - Library staff and special guest authors will lead a casual teen writing circle where you can asks for writing tips, complete writing exercises, and share your work with other young writers.
